Who We Are
Since 1989, G.D. Barri & Associates, Inc. has been a trusted strategic partner to utilities, universities, federal and state agencies, and prime contractors nationwide. With operations spanning 43 states, we deliver exceptional craft, technical, management, and engineering support services for mission-critical projects.
Job Summary
We are seeking an IT Procurement Specialist III to drive end-to-end, "cradle-to-grave" ownership of complex IT software, SaaS, and IT services contracts. In this role, you will act as a strategic business partner rather than a transactional buyer. You will collaborate across departments to optimize costs, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate risk during large-scale enterprise system implementations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Negotiations: Lead high-value negotiations for software, SaaS, cloud (PaaS), and system integration contracts to optimize pricing, SLAs, and enterprise licensing.
- Contract & Legal Lifecycle: Manage the full procurement lifecycle from RFP through award. Handle first-pass redlining and negotiate legal terms, including intellectual property rights, EULAs, and compliance provisions.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with IT Business Units, Legal, Cybersecurity, Finance, and Tax to steer high-stakes projects (up to $50M in spend) through complex organizational and legal constraints.
- Commercial Cost Optimization: Drive meaningful savings using commercial levers, including scope control, resource planning, staffing optimization, and phased delivery strategies.
- Vendor & Risk Management: Evaluate RFx bids, lead supplier demos, and champion Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) by establishing S.M.A.R.T. KPIs while actively challenging vendor risks.
Job Requirements:
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field with a minimum of six (6) years of IT procurement/contracting experience. In lieu of a degree: Ten (10) years of significant IT supply chain and contract administration experience is required.
- Contractual Acumen: Proven experience redlining and negotiating enterprise-scale IT contracts, Statements of Work (SOW), pricing structures, and complex legal provisions.
- Financial Strategy: Demonstrated ability to secure cost savings through structured scope definition, pricing strategies, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) or "Should Cost" modeling.
- Communication & Influence: Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to confidently push back on unreasonable vendor requests while maintaining executive trust.
Preferred Background
- Experience with enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, PeopleSoft, Smartsheet) or MRP systems and data analytics tools.
- Background in government or highly regulated environments, ensuring compliance with strict security, policy, and multi-department system integration standards.
- Experience managing large agreements through extended (6–9+ month) negotiation cycles.
