Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM (AZ Time)

Pay Rate starting at: $45

Contract Duration: 5 months (with potential for extension)

Location: (400 N 5th St., Phoenix, AZ) (Hybrid)

  • Hybrid role: 3–4 days onsite at field locations, 1–2 days remote
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor environments, including high heat conditions


Travel Requirements

  • Travel required 3-4 days per week to sites across Arizona, including distribution centers, generation plants, and field job sites
  • Occasional overnight travel (approximately once per month)
  • Use of personal vehicle required
  • Per diem provided in accordance with GSA rates for travel exceeding 50 miles from Phoenix headquarters


About the Role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Safety Consultant – Heat & Hydration (Contract) to support field operations across Arizona. This role focuses on improving worker safety in high-temperature and high-humidity environments by providing expert guidance on heat stress prevention, hydration protocols, and occupational health practices. You will work closely with field teams to reduce heat-related risk and strengthen site-specific safety procedures.


The position is primarily field based, requiring frequent travel to operational sites across Arizona, with a hybrid schedule that includes both onsite and remote work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Field Site Assessments: Conduct regular visits to field locations across Arizona (including Metro Phoenix, Casa Grande, Yuma, Douglas, Palo Verde, and other operational sites) to evaluate environmental conditions and hydration needs.
  • Training & Coaching: Deliver group training sessions and one-on-one coaching on heat stress prevention, hydration best practices, and emergency response.
  • Protocol Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve heat and hydration safety protocols tailored to site-specific conditions.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Track compliance with safety protocols and document heat-related incidents, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential heat-related hazards through field evaluations and recommend preventative and corrective measures.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Advise teams on recognizing and responding to heat-related illnesses, including dehydration and heat exhaustion.
  • Educational Resources: Develop and distribute clear, practical educational materials to reinforce safe hydration and heat management practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with management, foremen, and safety/health teams to integrate heat safety into daily operations.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Environmental Science, Public Health, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and/or safety roles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and heat exposure risks
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels
  • Ability to work independently in field environments and manage multiple priorities


Preferred:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar safety/health credentials
  • Experience in utility, construction, or other field-based industries
  • Background in safety training or workforce health programs
