The Technical Consultant provides input to station management relative to specific equipment, processes, or systems that require an in depth specialized level of knowledge and experience. This individual possesses unique and detailed understanding of particular elements of the design, operation and maintenance of facility equipment. This position acts as a technical advisor and consultant to station personnel during the modification, testing, operation, and maintenance of key plant equipment. The expertise of the Maintenance Technical Consultant is typically gained through extensive training and field familiarization with the systems and components over a long period of time. This position provides insight, operational knowledge and industry lessons learned to the staff that exceeds the normal scope of understanding of station staff. High school diploma or GED and at least 10 years field experience in a specialized area relating to the operation and maintenance of commercial nuclear facilities. Thorough understanding and familiarization with the subject specialty area is mandatory. Demonstrated proficiency in the assembly and maintenance of critical plant equipment such as emergency diesel generators, turbines, reactor components, critical pumps and valves, control systems, etc. This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energy’s Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120) (collectively, “U.S. Export Control Laws”).
